Tappy Flap Privacy Policy
A pixel-art arcade game for Android by Gimma.
Other policies: Gimma studio and website · Grubmosh · Woordzle
The short version
- Gimma runs no servers for Tappy Flap. Your progress lives on your phone and, if you choose, in your own Google account.
- There is no Gimma account. Signing in to Google Play Games is optional.
- Ads only play when you tap to watch one. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first and can change it any time in Settings.
- Purchases go through Google Play. We never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your data.
This policy explains how Tappy Flap ("the App") handles information when you play on Android.
1. Information the App uses
Game progress (on your device)
The App saves your game on your phone. This includes:
- coins, level, XP, abilities, upgrades, unlocked flyers, pipe styles, trails and effects
- settings such as sound, and your ability loadout
- the scoreboard name you type and your personal top 10 scores
- total playtime and the date of your last save
- a random device code the game creates on first start. It is not a hardware or advertising ID, and it is only used to combine saves from different phones correctly.
- a list of your Google Play purchases (product and purchase token), so bought items can be restored if the save is lost
To protect your progress, the App keeps a few rotating backup copies of the save on your phone. You can see them, and restore one, in Settings under "Your save" and "Backups & restore". We do not receive any of this data.
Android's own backup may copy this game data to your Google account, so it comes back after a reinstall or on a new phone. Google handles this backup, and you control it in your device's backup settings.
Google Play Games (optional)
The first time you open the App, it asks once whether you want to sign in to Google Play Games. You can say no and play normally. If you have used Play Games before, Google may sign you in automatically. You can sign out of Play Games for Tappy Flap at any time in the App's Settings.
While you are signed in:
- Google gives the App your Play Games player ID and gamertag.
- Your best score and highest level are sent to the Play Games leaderboards, and your achievements are recorded. Leaderboards show your Play Games profile name, not the name you type in the game.
- Your game progress, including the purchase list and the device code, is saved in your Google account through Play Games Saved Games, so you can continue on another phone. Only you can see this saved game.
Who can see your other Play Games activity depends on your Play Games profile settings. Google handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Purchases
Coin packs and the starter pack are sold and processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment card details. Google tells the App that a purchase went through and gives it a purchase token, so the items can be added to your game and restored later.
Advertising
The App shows ads through Google AdMob, with Unity Ads as a mediation partner. Every ad is an optional rewarded ad: it only plays when you choose to watch one for a second life or bonus coins. The App never shows ads on its own.
In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and other places where the law requires it, Google's consent form asks for your choice before ads are loaded. You can change your choice at any time under "Ad privacy choices" in the App's Settings.
To serve, measure and personalise ads (where you allow it) and to prevent ad fraud, AdMob and Unity may collect:
- the Android advertising ID and other device identifiers
- your IP address, used for approximate location (city or region, never GPS)
- device information, and how you interact with ads
- crash and diagnostic data from their software
Ad content is limited to General and Parental Guidance ratings to match the game. Ad requests are not marked as directed at children.
Diagnostics
Your device and Google Play may provide crash and performance reports. We do not add any other analytics tools. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
2. What we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location, and we never see payment card details. The App has no chat and no content that players can post publicly.
3. How information is used
- To run the game, remember and protect your progress, and apply purchases and ad rewards.
- To restore purchases if your save is lost.
- To show leaderboards and achievements, and keep a cloud save, if you use Google Play Games.
- To show ads to players aged 13 and older, including personalised ads where you allow it, and to measure how ads perform.
- To fix bugs, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet store and legal requirements.
4. Services involved
We do not sell your personal information. Data is only handled by the services that run the App, each under its own policy:
| Service | What it does | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play | Download and updates, billing, Play Games leaderboards, achievements and Saved Games | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google AdMob | Rewarded ads and the ad consent form | How Google uses data from apps |
| Unity Ads | Rewarded ads through AdMob mediation, with the same content limits | Unity Privacy Policy |
The App does not connect to anything else: its graphics, sounds and fonts are all built in. All data these services send and receive is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
5. Audience and children
Tappy Flap is meant for players aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13 and is not part of the Google Play Families program.
The store content rating describes what is in the game. It is not the target age and does not mean the App is made for children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has shared personal information through the App, contact us and we will delete it where required.
6. How long data is kept
- The save and its backup copies stay on your device until you clear the App's storage or uninstall it.
- Your Play Games data, including the saved game, is kept according to your Google account and Play Games settings.
- Android backups of game data are kept by Google according to your device's backup settings.
- Google and Unity keep ad and purchase records under their own policies.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you, and deleted when you ask.
7. Your choices
- Play Games: say no to the sign-in request, or sign out any time in Settings. "Manage your Play Games account" in Settings opens the Play Games app for everything else.
- Ad consent: change it any time under "Ad privacy choices" in Settings (shown where the law requires it).
- Ads: every ad is optional, so you can skip ads entirely. You can also limit ad personalisation, or reset or delete your advertising ID, in your device's Google settings.
- Your save: view your save in Settings under "Your save", and restore a backup copy with "Backups & restore". Delete your progress by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it.
- Questions or deletion: email customersupport@gimma.net.
8. Delete your Tappy Flap data
Tappy Flap by Gimma does not create its own accounts. This is how to delete your data.
Data we hold
- Email customersupport@gimma.net with the subject "Tappy Flap data deletion".
- Include your Play Games name if you use it. If you made purchases, your Google Play order number(s) also help.
- We confirm your request and complete it within 30 days.
Deleted: your support emails and any other data we hold that is linked to you.
Kept: nothing by us. Google keeps purchase records for tax and legal reasons under its own policy.
Google Play Games data
To delete your Tappy Flap scores, achievements and saved game, or your whole Play Games profile, open the Google Play Games app and go to Profile, then Settings, then "Delete Play Games account & data". You can also do this at play.google.com/games/profile.
Data on your device and ad data
Clear the App's storage or uninstall it to delete your progress and its backup copies on the phone. Android backups of it can be removed in your Google account's backup settings. To stop ads being linked to your device, reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Google settings. Google AdMob and Unity handle their ad data under their own policies.
9. Security
Game data stays on your device or in your own Google account, and all network traffic uses encryption. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure.
10. International users
Google, AdMob and Unity may process data on servers outside your country. Where the law gives you rights (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), you can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data. Contact us to use those rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, the effective date at the top changes.
